Black Friday

Today is Black Friday.  I have never gone shopping on this day before.  I just didn't want to deal with the crowd.  This morning I was at Joann's when they opened at 6:00 am.

I had a return to take care of or I would not have gone there today.  I figured if I got there early, I'd miss most of the crowd.  And I did.

I took care of what I came for, and then just looked around.  I'm always looking around to see what is new and to get ideas for crafts.  I noticed a crowd over by the cutting table.  I had not gone by the fabric... was not planning on getting any... but that crowd was huge.  I walked around the fabric area and saw they all had flannel in their carts.  Some had 2 carts full ... all were waiting to have theirs cut.  I walked on by, and checked out the flannel.. it was 75% off.  That explained the crowd.  The row of flannel had been almost wiped out... it was all up front around the cutting table.    75% is a good buy on flannel.  I was tempted, but the wait line discouraged me from thinking about getting any... that and the fact all the flannel was around the cutting table and was not easy to see and choose which to get.  Picked over is what it used to be called.

I checked out everything and was ready to leave 2 hours later.    I had a couple of coupons and a 25% off the entire order. Well, that 25% off was a hoax.  The exceptions in the fine print made it almost irrelevant to the final bill.  What a disappointment!

I paid for my items, and walked out into the sunshine.... cool for the south, but blue skies and sunshine!

So were there deals at Joann's today on Black Friday?  Not any more than on a normal sale period.    I got a couple of metal dies (and a few other things) .. they were 50% off.. not bad, but not the best deal of the year either.  I have my eye on a few things that I'd like to get... but can't afford them right now.  With crafts, there's no limit to whatknots and wherefores for all those ideas that abound.
