There is tranquility in going back to times when life was not so hectic... and government was not controlling our lives. The young people today, do not know what it was like before Washington decided we all needed parents.. rules and regulations on everything.
If it were possible to put the past, into younger heads... if pictures could tell the true story...
IF..... that's such a little word. There is no power in it... just wishful thinking. The media would like to tell the young people that senior citizens are not important. But the wisdom of the elderly should not be dismissed. Senior citizens have lived it... have experienced success and failure... they know what works and what doesn't work.
There wasn't a cell phone in every hand. There wasn't instant news from the computer. The daily paper was delivered by the mailman. News reels were shown at the movie theater before there was TV. When TV became available, there were 3 channels.. and they all went off the air at 10 o'clock pm. News was one 15 minute news program at 6:00 pm. There weren't 2-3 new cars in every driveway. Letters were written and mailed. Gas was 25 cents a gallon. Everything was not taxed.
No one cared if you smoked or not. When the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor, Hollywood volunteered to serve our country. There was prayer in school. The schools were run by local communities/parents, not the government.
I remember driving from Oklahoma to Indiana on route 66 and there was no McDonalds. Fast food had not been invented yet. There was no fast food anywhere on that route... just home made restaurant food, and those little gas stations with 2 pumps. Two lane road all the way... fewer cars on the road... it was an ok drive.
I'm still on the subject of "remembering". I'm assuming you all have heard of the camel's nose and the tent? Well, today, that camel's nose is not under the tent... the whole camel is IN the tent. Life is a far cry from what it used to be.
I know cell phones are handy.. nice to have when you're out and about. I know the computer is nice to have... it opens the world to us. Emails are a lot easier and faster than writing and mailing letters. Instant... Instant is what we live in. Impatience happens when it takes 5 minutes to get your order from the fast food window. Impatience happens when the computer doesn't spit out the info immediately. Impatience happens when the TV is on the blink. And memory is short. So much information is out and about... not all worth hearing, but it's out there just the same. Ears pick it up even when we don't realize it.
The mass media has an agenda.... they make it easy to hear all the junk they spew every day . It's on at the doctor's office ... it's on at the airport.. it's on in the stores... it's ON. We should be aware and know what is happening... not rely on the media to educate us. For they educate us with their agenda... skewed news ... news that isn't news, but opinions... news that is meant to hide what they don't want known and instead indoctrinating you with their agenda.
Until next time...watch what you hear... know truth. The truth will set you free.
